Correspondence school offers flexibility in learning with no restrictions of when or where to learn whilst at the same time using professionally designed study materials.

There is a great difference in that home schooling offers more chances to the learner to go through the study pack and great independence to make learning decisions whilst in a formal school system, there is greater dependence on the teacher who seems to direct the learner towards goal attainment.

The sky is the limit except in exceptional cases the school does not recommend under 5 years learners.

The choice is with the learner as he/she follows the study packs because one can start “school” at any time of the year and progresses at one’s own pace.

It is the only government distance education school offering primary school level tuition in the country and even the SADC region.

Correspondence school is open to anyone, anywhere in the world.

Correspondence school offers study materials for Grades 1 to Grade 7.

All the primary school subjects prescribed by the Curriculum Development Unit (CDU) are provided for home schooling.

A learner has 6 sets per term translating to 12 working weeks per term (Term 1 Set 1- 6, Term 2 Set 7 -12 and Term 3 Set 13 -18) This means that for a normal learner, the set should be completed in ten working days before it is sent to Harare for marking by our Teachers- Cum – Writers.

The school has a library where you can borrow 6 books at a time plus supplementary readers provided by your Harare Teacher-Cum- Writer. The question of buying extra books is personal because we provide them but you can add up your library for variety.

We are a Zimsec Centre (017610) and it is true that our learners write national exams every October.

Home schooled Grade 7 learners write examinations at the nearest school in each of the ten provinces of Zimbabwe and those nearer Harare can come to Mt Pleasant during examination days.

For extra curricula activities, we recommend that the supervisor approaches nearby schools, clubs or any competent person to train the learners in any sporting activities.

True, we have January Seminar when we train Supervisors how to implement our study materials, then in June we have sports in Beitbridge, then in July again sports in Mutare and Harare. We also have Open Days in November and there are also chances of F2F when Teachers- cum- Writers visit individuals and groups in the ten provinces of Zimbabwe.
